I wanted to have a MJ tribute party...but where are my MJ fans-friends? In Montana. I'll just listen to the Free Willy theme song along in my apartment. Maybe dance to Thriller.

Highlight of the Day:
Sunday, August 16- I'm home :)
Saturday, August 15- I finally got to Westcliffe, Colorado for Amy and Matt's wedding!
Friday, August 14- I got to hear President Obama speak today and even got to shake his hand...this might take the prize for best "Highlight of the Day" of the summer.
Thursday, August 13- I got two tickets to see Obama tomorrow and I am psyched!
Wednesday, August 12- Today was my last day of work at KOA! Also, tonight I headed up to Belgrade to stand in line for tickets to see President Obama speak at a town-hall meeting on Friday. I camped out on the front lawn of city hall all night, it was a good ol' time.
Tuesday, August 11- Some guy walked into the office today wearing a wolf t-shirt. I gestured to Jacob that he needed to check it out. Just then some other guy says, "I like your shirt...I like shirts with wolves on them." It was awesome.
Monday, August 10- At Lionshead RV some kid flipped-out today when he found out we had a rec. room, "DAD! Come look, they have a pool table AND old magazines!"
Sunday, August 9- At 12:15 a.m. Hailey, Nate, and I watched Old Faithful erupt...watching it in the dark is much more fun than during the day...way fewer people, way more flashlight tag.
Saturday, August 8- Hailey and her family are camping over in Island Park this weekend so we went over and visited them this afternoon....better yet, Hailey made us lunch.
Friday, August 7- Today was my last day of cleaning kabins and we found a ton of sweet stuff: a hand powered crank flashlight/radio, a boomerang, a pre-teen level novel, AND a citronella candle. It was a pretty good haul.
Thursday, August 6- Tonight we went to a party in town to celebrate Jamaica's independence with all the Jamaican workers....thank God they got that independence, or else Americans would have to learn to live without Sandals Resort.
Wednesday, August 5- One of my bike customers today reminded me of Kristen Wiig's character the "Target Lady" on Saturday Night Live. This lady was CRA-ZY, but I couldn't help but laugh. She seemed to say whatever was on her mind and while explaining the rules I caught her making faces behind me back and then I started laughing...I'm not really sure why.
Tuesday, August 4- While entering the north gate of the park Nate rubbed his car up against the wooden guardrail next to the ranger's entrance station. The young ranger whom we had been laughing at moments before simply responded, "Um, there's a log there." He sure put us in our place.
Monday, August 3- I watched some crazy fool exchange a bunch of one dollar bills for two dollar bills at the bank...oh wait, that was Nate.
Sunday, August 2- Nate and I went to Earthquake Lake just north of here....pretty much a bunch of people died and cabins flooded, bummer.
Saturday, August 1- We had a pizza party over at Super 8 because they aced their inspections, woot woot.

Wednesday, July 29- Watching Charlotte AKA "C. Bass" re-enact a lady freaking out over our selection of wolf t-shirts.
Tuesday, July 28- I got a penicillin prescription from the doctor today...woot woot for modern medicine! I also went and saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the theater in town.
Monday, July 27- I got three letters from friends today...other than that I worked 13 hours...not the funnest of days.
Sunday, July 26- Some teenage boy who had to stand up at church today was wearing a t-shirt that read "loser"...way to get dressed up for church kid.
Saturday, July 25- This afternoon I went out to Rainbow Point, a beach on Lake Hebgen, and journaled....very relaxing.
Friday, July 24- My ex-marine boss called me "buddy" and also told me "good boy." I know this sounds like he's treating me like a dog, but hey, it's better than him calling me a "lowly maggot."
Thursday, July 23- I got a $5 tip while working bikes tonight...just for taking this elderly couple's photo on the bike.
Wednesday, July 22- This evening Luda and Natalia showed Jacob and I photos from Moldova including photos from Natalia's wedding. It was funny to hear them describe "the broom's sacred dance." I think they meant to say "the groom's" not "the broom's"...oh, those crazy Moldovans.
Tuesday, July 21- Today I took the family to Old Faithful, a few other geyser basins, through the Tetons, and to Jackson Hole. It was a long, but enjoyable day.
Monday, July 20- The fam and I went into the park to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs. Tonight we had another fire...woot woot!
Sunday, July 19- I went into town with my family and did some shopping and also saw the movie "Yellowstone" at the IMAX. Tonight we had a campfire complete with roasted weenies and smores!
Saturday, July 18- Carly, Cameo, Mom, and Parker all got here today (sorry, but the next few day's highlights are all going to be about my family...sorry if that's lame.)
Friday, July 17- Today I discovered the awesomeness that is the West Yellowstone Newspaper's Police Report section. Also we found bear tracks and droppings in the campground today.
Thursday, July 16- While working bikes, I met two kids from England with sweet accents...it was awesome because I felt like I was talking to Harry Potter! Also, we went into town to eat at Wild West Pizzeria tonight and there was a crowd of people sitting around watching highlight footage from the rodeo that took place earlier this evening....only in Montana.
Wednesday, July 15- I met a kid named Carson today...I think I was more excited about our encounter than he was. Also, Laurel, the boss' wife, said she would comp my family's campsite when they visit in a couple days.
Tuesday, July 14- The Teton's are freakin' sweet...that about sums it up.
Monday, July 13- An awesome redneck, hick, toothless family from Texas checked in tonight...even better: their last name was Gilly!
Sunday, July 12- Today was a good day for tips at the Koffee Kabin...AND I blew my goal of selling 45 cups of coffee out of the water by selling over 70 cups!
Saturday, July 11- I got to work bikes tonight which was pretty cool itself. Then some little boy came and sat down on one of the bikes and said "Ooh, this feels good!"
Friday, July 10- In the mail today I got chapter one of "The Day That Justice Failed Us All", a story written by my friend Josh that centers around a character named Carson Stokebrand, a former police officer for the Carson City Police Department. It's a pretty intriguing story so far....Officer Stokebrand is so in your face!
Thursday, July 9- Tonight I saw a kid who had a full-blown, 100% natural uni-brow. It was horrifically awesome.
Wednesday, July 8- I actually had time to do some reading this afternoon. I curled-up on my bed and read as it rained outside. Nate sat in the next room knitting by the fire while the young ones napped on the floor at his feet.
Tuesday, July 7- On my way to Bozeman I saw a grizzly bear! Don't worry, I was safely secured inside my little Civic. I also saw an awkward looking teenage boy with pasty white skin and socks up to his knees making a "suicide" drink (a combination of all available sodas) at Burger King. It took me back to the good old days when mixing sodas made you a dare-devil. Also, it made me miss Surge.
Monday, July 6- Kathy, the Chinese girl, asked if I had any books about America so I gave her my copy of "I Am America And So Can You" by Stephen Colbert (it's a humor book mostly filled with false facts). I'm thinking she's going to have a distorted view of what America's really like after reading it.
Sunday, July 5- Not to sound creepy...but a couple of little black girls hung out in the office at Lionshead all afternoon and made Arlene and I act out skits with them. It was a good way to past the time, plus they were really funny.
Saturday, July 4- I got some sweet stuff at a 4th of July garage sale in town...who wouldn't love a radio walkmen that looks like a pack of Starburst? Tonight we watched the fireworks in town...it reminded me of good ol' Seward, NE.
Friday, July 3- Kathy, the girl from China, asked me, "Has anyone ever told you that you look like a British person?" I wanted to tell her, "No, but I get called Chinese all the time." I didn't want to offend her though.
Thursday, July 2- This afternoon we went to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and saw the falls...it was pretty cool. While there we overheard a lady say to her daughter/little sister, "Don't be stupid! Stupid people die!" Great parenting.
Wednesday, July 1- I saw an old man who looked like a surly little lawn knome and I found a smashed penny from the Corn Palace while cleaning. Score.
Tuesday, June 30- Today I got to see Transformers 2, stocked up on goods at Wally-World, and got to spend the evening with Hailey Jo! It was awesome.
Monday, June 29- Nate and I finally got to play tennis in town today. Also, I got entrusted to close the Lionshead RV Campground all by myself tonight.
Sunday, June 28- Today was the closing service for vacation bible school at church...it was fun to see all the kids singing; it reminded me of being back in church at Goehner or Cordova. Also, they couldn't find one of the offering plates so they used a cowboy hat instead. AND they had a potluck dinner after the service. I love Sundays.
Saturday, June 27- I had a good conversation with Kathy, the new girl from China. She told me about her volunteering at the Beijing Olympics and let me know just how much the Chinese hate the Japanese.
Friday, June 26- Tonight we went into town and visited Kim...it was fun to see her again. I missed how she always made fun of me for being so "white."
Thursday, June 25- Today's highlights were three-fold: 1) I saw a guy who looked like Alec Baldwin...only hairier. 2) I saw a kid with an amazing mullet...very curly and very scurvy. 3) I was walking by two kids tonight and I just overheard one of them say "I am so frickin' awesome!" It made me laugh because it sounded like something I would say.
Wednesday, June 24- There was a picture-perfect sunset tonight with the evergreen trees in the foreground. Also the stars are so bright here...Carly would love it.
Tuesday, June 23- Nate showed up today and we moved into our new cabin...it has a lot more space, AND Nate is letting me use his computer so I don't have to hike up to the dorm computer.
Monday, June 22- My coworkers are sitting around in the lounge watching a film about the best fly-fishing locations in the world...they're all really into it...I just keep laughing at how corny it is...I don't exactly have the same type of interests as them.
Sunday, June 21- This morning I worked the opening day of the Coffee Cabin and I started my second job at the Lionshead RV Resort.
Saturday, June 20- Happy birthday Cameo and Cammie! I had a nice convo with a couple from Denmark while soaking in the hot tub.
Friday, June 19- I got trained in the Coffee Cabin today...it's going to be awesome in there.
Thursday, June 18- I saw a girl who looked just like Jodie Sweetin AKA Stephanie Tanner from Full House...she was even really nice like Steph.
Wednesday, June 17- My boss asked me if I want to work the espresso shack a few days a week! Now I'm going to be Carson the Latte Boy.
Tuesday, June 16- I finally got all of my graduation thank you's written, AND I got to take a nap today!
Monday, June 15- I actually got Kim to admit that something here was "cool" and that the scenery was "beautiful." This was a great triumph.
Sunday, June 14- As I was leaving for church this morning I saw a group of fat kids at one of the campsites standing in a circle doing jumping jacks...I think it might have been a mini fat camp overnight outing.
Saturday, June 13- I actually got to do office work today which involved interacting with customers...it was fun. I also had a nice phone convo with Tim...I miss that guy.
Friday, June 12- I'm having fun getting to know my co-workers better. Kim and Katanya (the girls from Jamaica) are hilarious...Kim hates everything while Katanya is always upbeat and positive. An even better part of my day was when I found a bouncy ball in one of the kabins!
Thursday, June 11- I went and saw Old Faithful today...it was pretty cool. The Old Faithful Inn is especially impressive...Teddy Roosevelt actually stayed there. Another awesome thing I saw today was a guy who looked just like a white Colin Powell.
Wednesday, June 10- I got trained in office work today...hopefully I will start working in there soon! Also, Emily told me she is going to start babysitting for a homeless guy in her neighborhood...awesome way to pick up a few extra bucks Emily.
Tuesday, June 9- One of my co-workers who is agnostic asked me some questions about Christianity! It was really neat being able to share with him. I know he was just curious and currently has no intent of becoming a devout Christian, but maybe I can at least plant a seed of interest within him.
Monday, June 8- I overhear a kid playing on the playground here at the campground threaten another kid saying: "If you don't give me a piggy back ride I'm going to choke slam you!"
Sunday, June 7- Within my first few minutes in the park I already see a moose! A close second was the man wearing a coon skin hat I saw dancing on a sidewalk in West Yellowstone.
Saturday, June 6- As I leave Seward Grandma tells me not to fall in love with any Hawaiian girls while in Montana....um...okay, I'll try to dodge that bullet Grandma. Grandpa's advise was a bit more practical...he advised me not to fall for any mountain women.
